earths orbit week

this week in science we talked about the earths orbit. We talked about why it orbits the sun. it has to do with the suns direction and velocity. Also the angle of the earth, at the beginning of the week we also talked about solstice and equinox. they are both involved with the longest and shortest days of the year.
we learned all of this by doing the orbit simulator. this taught us that the earth needs distance velocity and angles to have a correct orbit aroung the sun.
this is good for me to know because this taught me that the earth doesnt just pick a random place in the atmosphere and justy orbit. i learned that i need the angle and the velocity. if it is farther away i need less velocity, closer more velocity.
